Propshafts are also known as driveshafts , cardan shafts and universally jointed shafts but they are all the same thing. They normally incorporate two universal joints at either end of the tube which also has a telescopic spline section incorporated into it to allow for length compensation.

This is usually around 50MM or more for wide angle applications. There are also fixed lengths which are for boat shafts and vehicles which have a toothed gearbox and two, three or four piece propshafts for vehicles which have a far reach from the gearbox to the differential when using high torque figures.
